Before Britney Spears kicks off the European leg of her Femme Fatale Tour later this month, she is taking care of a little business in England. Spears took to Twitter to reveal that the country would serve as the locale for her "Criminal" video.

"So excited to stop over in the UK before I start my European tour in a few weeks," she tweeted. "Can't wait! I LOVE London, it's like my second home. Decided to shoot the 'Criminal' video in the streets of merry old England when I get there..."

The news of the video shoot comes a week or so after the singer revealed to MTV News that her next single would be the Femme Fatale slow jam. She also teased that she had some interesting ideas for the video.

"The song, when I first heard it, it's really different and it's not anything I've heard like this before," she told us backstage at the VMAs. "So I really wanted to deliver this song. I was thinking of a really cool concept for the video just to make it interesting. You'll have to see."

Just in time for her Euro trip, Spears also graces the cover of Glamour's U.K. edition. In the magazine, the singer opens up about her next personal milestone: turning the big 3-0.

"I think the older you get, the wiser you get," she said. "I can't wait. I'm really excited and definitely gonna celebrate and do something spectacular. I'm gonna be in South America so I'll have to do something pretty fun. A carnival of Britney?"

Spears wears a dress with sequins and feathers on the cover, and in the article, she says she'd love to have William and Kate stop by one of her shows in London. "That would be amazing. That would be really crazy and cool. I think they're a beautiful couple," she said. "Unfortunately I didn't get to watch the [royal] wedding, but I heard it was beautiful."

Does Britney Spears' "I Wanna Go" have the people's support as Song of the Summer? Check out the video below to find out!

Anne Hathaway's Catwoman Isn't First Controversial Costume

We look back at other divisive getups, including George Clooney's Batman and Adrianne Palicki's Wonder Woman.
By Kara Warner

Nothing causes a storm of online controversy like the first big reveal of an updated superhero costume — particularly when said costume is on a glamorous Hollywood starlet.

Case in point: the paparazzi photo snapped on the Los Angeles set of "The Dark Knight Rises" that features a catsuit-clad Anne Hathaway in between scenes. The firestorm around the photo, as well as the detailed analysis that followed, reminded us of some other costumes that received the same obsessive treatment.

MTV News reached out to Caleb Goellner, senior editor at Comics Alliance, for his thoughts on past lightning-rod getups.

Halle Berry's Catwoman
All things considered, Hathaway's costume has nothing on Halle Berry's barely there, frequently mocked ensemble from 2004's much-maligned "Catwoman," which went on to win four Razzies for Worst Picture, Worst Actress, Worst Director and Worst Screenplay.

"If somebody would've asked me, 'Hey, you think it'd be feasible to fight crime wearing nothing but a few handfuls of random belts from a TJ Maxx after-Thanksgiving sale bargain bin circa 1984?' In, like, 2003, I might've said, 'Maybe,' " Goellner admitted. "I confess to not being open-minded enough for that response in a post-'Catwoman' world, though."

Adrianne Palicki's Wonder Woman
There is a decent argument to be made that the violent reactions to the costume worn briefly by Adrianne Palicki were a large part of the reason David E. Kelley's TV series failed to get picked up. Also, from what we know about the pilot, it was not good.

"Palicki's costume seems like it was scrutinized more for its choice of materials than its cut," Goellner said. "Nobody really agrees on what Wonder Woman is/should be, but fans seemed united in their cries for a TV costume with a less vinyl-y sheen."

George Clooney and Val Kilmer's Batmen
When Warner Bros. hired Joel Schumacher to direct "Batman Forever" and then "Batman & Robin," they wanted him to make the films less Tim Burton-style dark and more family-friendly. The result? Nipples were inexplicably added to the Batsuits worn by Val Kilmer and George Clooney.

"In a world where rubber costumes often feature fake abs, adding nipples to a crime fighting suit is pretty logical," Goellner said, tongue firmly in cheek. "The problem fans had with this outfit stemmed purely from the fact that, in the comics, Bruce Wayne has trained his nipples to go into sleep mode while fighting crime, diverting calories to other parts of his body as needed. This continuity error, however minor, really distracted from Joel Schumacher's otherwise completely authentic filmmaking choices."

Ryan Reynolds' Green Lantern
The debate about CGI is ongoing: How much is too much? How much is too little? Shouldn't we expect all superhero-themed movies to be computer-generated spectacles? When the first photo of Ryan Reynolds as a green-suited Hal Jordan appeared, there were accusations of ruin and overuse of Photoshop.

Said Goellner: "Green Lantern's organic look had some feeling like he was more of a Slim Goodbody stand-in than a proper space cop. Others, who accepted the rationality of the costume as a manifestation of alien technology, were still bummed by its lack of depth and overall painted-on look. Everyone else was too busy hoping for a cosmic 'Two Guys, A Girl and a Pizza Place' reunion to notice."

X-Men Suit Up in Black Leather
For those who grew up with their crime-fighting mutants sporting the classic blue-and-yellow suits as seen on the pages of the Marvel comic, as well as the animated cartoon, the all-black ensembles worn by the cast in Bryan Singer's 2000 hit ruffled many a fanboy's feathers back in the day — so much so that Singer added an homage to the fans via Cyclops' cheeky line: "What would you prefer, yellow spandex?"

"Given the X-Men's history of trying out new uniforms in the comics, fans weren't supremely bothered by X-Men's low-key combat suits," Goellner said. "Then again, the state of the superhero film was so abysmal in 2000 that fans were open to anything that was more 'Blade' than 'Batman & Robin.' It also probably would've been a bad idea to put Hugh Jackman in a mask, when everyone knows the real star of the 'X' franchise has been his dreamy peepers."

Bonus: Barbara Eden's Jeannie
Back in 1965, nothing caused more controversy on network television than Barbara Eden's scandalous costume on "I Dream of Jeannie" — so scandalous that network execs made the costume designers add extra inches to the waistline so Eden's belly button wouldn't be exposed.

Goellner's final word: "Her costume is a delight, but everybody knows that real genies are blue, have goatees and kind of talk like that guy who starred in 'Hook.' "

Lady Gaga Honors Jamey Rodemeyer At iHeartRadio Festival

Gay teen committed suicide last weekend after suffering years of bullying.

Just days after once again speaking out against bullying, Lady Gaga dedicated a moving version of "Hair" to teen Jamey Rodemeyer at the iHeartRadio music festival in Las Vegas on Saturday. The gay teen committed suicide last week after enduring years of bullying by his school peers, inspiring Gaga to tweet that she was going to meet with President Obama to encourage him to pass legislation outlawing bullying.

Following up on her promise, Gaga attended an Obama fundraiser in Los Angeles over the weekend, where a source told MTV News last week that she was expected to bring up the topic if the two were able to get a moment together. According to The Associated Press, Gaga was among the guests at an intimate Sunday night gathering at the home of Facebook chief operating officer Sheryl Sandberg, wearing a sleeveless gown and high heels. A spokesperson for Gaga had not returned requests for comment at press time inquiring about whether the meeting of the minds had taken place.

The two-night iHeartRadio festival unfolded at the MGM Grand in Vegas and featured sets from Jay-Z, the Black Eyed Peas, Kelly Clarkson, Carrie Underwood, Bruno Mars, Coldplay, Alicia Keys, David Guetta, Nicki Minaj, Jennifer Lopez and Usher.

For photos of Gaga, Jennifer Lopez and others at the iHeartRadio festival, click here.

"We lost a Little Monster this week," Gaga said of the 14-year-old Rodemeyer during the show, as a picture of the teen was shown on a screen onstage. "I wrote this record about how your identity is really all you've got when you're in school ... so tonight, Jamey, I know you're up there looking at us, and you're not a victim ... you're a lesson to all of us. I know it's a bit of a downer, but sometimes the right thing is more important than the music."

The Amherst Police Department has opened a criminal investigation into Rodemeyer's death and is considering harassment, cyberharassment and hate crimes charges against a number of teens who may have been involved in bullying Jamey.

We already knew about Bruno Mars' involvement in the upcoming "Breaking Dawn" soundtrack. But now — officially — we know who will be joining him.

Theophilus London, the Joy Formidable, Iron & Wine, Christina Perri and the Noisettes are just some of the acts confirmed for the "Dawn" soundtrack, which hits stores on November 8 (10 days before "The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn - Part 1" bows in theaters). The full track list was unveiled Monday (September 26) afternoon on the official "Twilight" Twitter account, confirming speculations that sprung up over the weekend, when a listing of artists and songs began making the rounds on various fansites.

Work by "Twilight"-series composer Carter Burwell and actress Mia Maestro (she plays Carmen of the Denali Cover in the "Breaking Dawn" films) also shows up on the soundtrack, as do songs by Angus and Julia Young, the Features, the Belle Brigade and Cider Sky. All in all, there are 15 tracks on the album, and all — aside from a "Wedding Version" of Iron & Wine's "Flightless Bird, American Mouth" (as any good Twilighter will tell you, the original version of the song appeared on the first "Twilight" soundtrack) and an updated take on Noisettes' "Sister Rosetta" — are new.

The "Breaking Dawn" soundtrack follows in the footsteps of the ultra-successful 2008 "Twilight" 'track (which featured new songs from Paramore and Perry Farrell), '09's "New Moon" (which boasted a new track by Death Cab for Cutie and contributions from Thom Yorke and Lykke Li) and last year's "Eclipse," which packed in tunes from Muse, Florence and the Machine, Beck and Vampire Weekend.

The full track list for 'The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn - Part 1' soundtrack:
» The Joy Formidable, "Endtapes"
» Angus & Julia Stone, "Love Will Take You"
» Bruno Mars, "It Will Rain"
» Sleeping at Last, "Turning Page"
» The Features, "From Now On"
» Christina Perri, "A Thousand Years"
» Theophilus London, "Neighbors"
» The Belle Brigade, "I Didn't Mean It"
» Noisettes, "Sister Rosetta (2011 Version)"
» Cider Sky, "Northern Lights"
» Iron & Wine, "Flightless Bird, American Mouth (Wedding Version)"
» Imperial Mammoth, "Requiem on Water"
» Aqualung & Lucy Schwartz, "Cold"
» Mia Maestro, "Llovera"
» Carter Burwell, "Love Death Rebirth"

'50/50': The Reviews Are In

Most critics think the comedy about cancer proves anything can be funny.
By Eric Ditzian

Anna Kendrick and Joseph Gordon Levitt in "50/50"
Photo: Summit Entertainment

When Will Reiser first found out he had cancer, he and his comedy-writer buddies (including Seth Rogen and "Pineapple Express" scribe Evan Goldberg) would jokingly wonder if Reiser's disease would bring them all a Make-a-Wish opportunity to hang with Led Zeppelin.

That rock-and-roll dream never came true, but Reiser's battle with, and eventual remission from, cancer did gift them all with one thing: "50/50," a comedy (out now) that is drawing rave reviews from critics and is being discussed as a possible contender come awards season. Though not all reviewers have found it easy to find yuks in a deadly serious topic, far more point to the film as an example that nothing is out of bounds when it comes to art and comedy; handled deftly, anything can lead to laughter and learning.

The Story
"Adam Lerner (Joseph Gordon-Levitt) is a nice guy with a great job at a Seattle NPR station, a promising relationship with up-and-coming artist Rachael (Bryce Dallas Howard), a best-friend-since-high-school named Kyle (Seth Rogen) to hang with -- and, as he learns to his horror in a doctor's office, cancer. ... Also woven deftly into the mixture is Anna Kendrick as a young (very young) therapist assigned to work with Adam; [Anjelica] Huston as the kind of mother who explains 'I want you to know that I smothered him because I love him' to anyone who will listen. ... It's not a perfect movie, but it doesn't matter. '50/50' takes on a bold subject and makes us laugh and cry. I thought I didn't want to see a cancer comedy; I was wrong." -- Moira McDonald, The Seattle Times

The Laughs
"Scenes where the pals trash a piece of once-important memorabilia in a backyard rampage and the after-effects of pot-laden cookies scored at the chemotherapy clinic show loopily grinning Gordon-Levitt at his best. Kudos to [director Jonathan] Levine for not letting Rogen's very funny comedic bits overshadow the proceedings. The actor dials it down ever so slightly and isn't afraid to be the butt of jokes -- watch for Gordon-Levitt's spot-on Rogen impersonation. The suggestion a bald head and a cancer diagnosis could be the ultimate pickup leverage leads Adam and Kyle into funny territory. But the hilarity turns with the exploration of deeper relationships as Adam finds new friends among the genial stoners of all ages at the chemo clinic." -- Linda Barnard, Toronto Star

The Writing
"[Reiser] draws on his personal battle with a rare form of that disease. His success rate in the delicate balance between comedy and the profound devastation of such an illness is much greater than 50/50, but the film is not without its tonal lapses. ... Reiser has written his characters with an indelible sweetness and vulnerability, which allows the cast to deliver performances with some depth. So a situation such as Kyle insisting that Adam and he should cruise girls at a bar looking for sympathy lays -- Cruisin' with the Big C as it were -- comes off as quite funny as does Adam's first chemo session where he ingests weed-laced sweets created by a fellow patient's wife and floats out of the hospital afterwards." -- Kirk Honeycutt, The Hollywood Reporter

The Dissenters
"In the pantheon of tastelessness designed to make you laugh at diarrhea, menstruation, masturbation, yeast infections, fellatio and worse, you can now add a stupid horror called '50/50.' Artificial, irresponsible, filthy and forgettable, it knocks itself cross-eyed trying to make you roar with laughter at chemotherapy, with the nauseating Seth Rogen milking most of the yuks. But a stoner comedy about cancer? I don't think so." -- Rex Reed, The New York Observer

The Final Word
"The reason '50/50' works is it's not trying to force us into any particular emotion. It fits in the emerging category of sad-man comedies such as 'Up in the Air' and 'Crazy, Stupid Love,' telling its downbeat tale with tenderness, sincerity and warmth. '50/50' isn't a cancer buddy comedy or a male weepie but a message movie. The message is that you can tackle pretty much any subject matter and tell a story any way you want to onscreen as long as it's absorbing." -- Colin Covert, Minneapolis Star Tribune

Katy Perry Ties Michael Jackson Singles Record

'Last Friday Night (T.G.I.F.)' marks Perry's fifth #1 single from Teenage Dream, equal only to MJ's Bad achievement.
By Jocelyn Vena

Back in June, Katy Perry was closing in on Michael Jackson's record for the most #1 singles from the same album — and now she's tied it up. Thanks to the feel-good party jam "Last Friday Night (T.G.I.F.)," Perry has the same number of #1 singles from Teenage Dream on the Hot 100 as the late King of Pop did from 1987's Bad.

Now, Perry is both the only woman with five #1 singles from the same album and also the only living artist with that record. So what singles got her there aside from "Last Friday Night"? Perry's previous #1's from Teenage Dream are "California Gurls," "Teenage Dream," "Firework" and "E.T." Jackson achieved this feat back in 1987 and 1988 with "I Just Can't Stop Loving You," "Bad," "The Way You Make Me Feel," "Man in the Mirror" and "Dirty Diana" from his Bad album.

"What a way to wake up! SO proud to announce that the little-engine-that-could of a song 'LAST FRIDAY NIGHT' is officially #1 & made HISTORY!" the singer tweeted Wednesday (August 17). "&u know, I couldn't have done it with out ya, really I owe u guys BIG... so take this moment to give yourself a high FIVE!!! #allbecauseofu."

Explore our "Katy Perry: By The Numbers" infographic:

Perry broke another singles record earlier this month, having the first album from the Billboard Mainstream Top 40 chart to have five #1 singles. Perry's Teenage Dream album is the first in the nearly 19-year history of the chart to accomplish that feat.

"Last Friday Night" has proven to be another successful track for the star, and the party anthem recently got an assist from Missy Elliott on the remix.

Perry's Teenage Dream videos have also been cultural smashes. For the 2011 Video Music Awards, Perry racked up the most nominations with nine, including nods for Video of the Year and Best Female Video for "Firework"; Best Pop Video for "Last Friday Night (T.G.I.F.)"; and Best Collaboration, Best Art Direction, Best Direction, Best Editing and Best Special Effects for the Floria Sigismondi-directed "E.T.," which features fellow nominee Kanye West. Her dreamy "Teenage Dream" clip even nabbed a nomination for Best Cinematography.

What's your favorite Teenage Dream single? Let us know in the comments below!

The 28th annual MTV Video Music Awards will air live on Sunday, August 28, from the Nokia Theatre in Los Angeles at 9 p.m. ET/PT. See the list of nominees, revisit last year's highlights and vote for your favorites in the general categories by visiting VMA.MTV.com.

Lady Gaga Calls For Meeting With Obama After Bullied Teen's Suicide

Following the death of Jamey Rodemeyer, Gaga pledges to help make bullying a hate crime.
By Gil Kaufman

Lady Gaga
Photo: MTV News

Lady Gaga was so shaken with the news about the death of 14-year-old Jamey Rodemeyer this weekend that she has called for President Obama to enact laws making bullying a hate crime.

Rodemeyer, who had posted an "It Gets Better" video in May about his long struggle with bullying at school, took his life on Sunday after what his parents said was years of taunting over his sexuality.

In his video, Rodemeyer cited Gaga as an inspiration, saying, "She makes me so happy. She lets me know that I was born this way. And that's my advice to you from her: You were born this way. All you have to do is hold your head up and you'll go far." The teen seems on the verge of tears when discussing Gaga's message and promising to keep on going despite the hate.

On Wednesday, Gaga expressed her sadness over Rodemeyer's death. "The past days I've spent reflecting, crying, and yelling," she tweeted. "I have so much anger. It is hard to feel love when cruelty takes someone's life." She went further, posting Rodemeyer's "Better" video, and insisting that bullying "must become illegal. It is a hate crime."

In fact, Gaga claimed in a subsequent tweet, she's so upset that she is planning to meet with President Obama on the matter.

"I will not stop fighting," she wrote. "This must end. Our generation has the power to end it. Trend it #MakeALawForJamey." A spokesperson for the White House could not confirm at press time if Gaga has officially set up a meeting with the president to discuss the issue.

MTV's ongoing "A Thin Line" project provides stories and resources for anyone who believes they are being cyberbullied or who is looking for ways to stop harassment by digital means.

Sara Leal Photos Circulate, Ashton Kutcher?s Alleged Mistress Goes Into Hiding

As Sara Leal photos are regurgitated across the web at a rapid pace, Ashton Kutcher’s alleged mistress has seemingly gone into hiding and fleeing from the spotlight. Can the marriage of Demi Moore and Ashton Kutcher be saved or is this one dunzo for good? Sara Leal is the woman who allegedly had a fling with Kutcher last Friday night, or to clarify, Saturday morning, the same day of his and Demi’s sixth wedding anniversary. The news was first reported by thedirty.com. A reader told the site that the alleged hookup took place in his 12th floor Hard Rock Hotel room in San Diego. Kutcher allegedly told Leal that he and Demi were separated but that little tidbit hadn’t been divulged publicly. Fast forward a few days and now Leal is asking $250,000 for the deets on what happened between the two in the early hours of Saturday morning. She has gone into hiding and hired a lawyer to ‘explore her options’. I’m sorry, this is nowhere near the magnitude of the Tiger Woods’ scandal, honey, but I don’t doubt that someone will front the cash for her to tell all. Whatever. This is not the first time Kutcher has [...]

"Mother of Hip Hop" Sylvia Robinson Dies At 75, Hip Hop Community Reacts

Sylvia Robinson, a legend in the hip-hop community, died this morning of congestive heart failure at Meadowlands Hospital in Secaucus, New Jersey.  She was 75 and deemed the "Mother of Hip Hop."

The reactions of the hip hop community inside...

Sylvia Robinson made her mark on the hip hop industry in producing the first rap song in history to hit the mainstream airwaves, "Rapper's Delight" by Sugar Hill Gang.

Women making big moves in the game was not as prominent an occurrence at the beginning as it is now.  And being called the "Mother of Hip Hop" was fitting for the legend.

She was a singer (best known for her single "Pillow Talk"), producer, and co-founder of the Sugar Hill Records, along with her husband.  She helped formed the Sugar Hill Gang and produced their most notable single.  She's also one of the first to use "sampling", as "Rapper's Delight" used the breakdown of "Good Times" by Chic.

Sylvia also produced Grandmaster Flash & the Furious Five's "The Message."

Branding and hip-hop guru Steve Stoute spoke highly of Sylvia Robinson in his new book The Tanning of America.  And he said to TheYBF.com this afternoon about her death:

"I hope the world remembers Sylvia Robinson as a pioneer and innovator that, because of her contribution to society, a culture was born and a generation was raised."

The Hip Hop community is pouring out their condolences on Twitter as well.

SPOTTED: First Lady Michelle Obama Tries To Go Undercover At TARGET In VA!

Could you imagine doing your usual Target run and seeing First Lady Michelle Obama in your checkout line?!  She was spotted looking incognito today in Alexandria, VA while shopping it up.

Looks like Mrs. Obama's security threw on their street clothes to blend in because no suits with earbuds were spotted in the store.

Right outside of D.C. in Alexandria, VA, FLOTUS decided to grab a few things for 30-40 minutes with her assistant at the local Target.  She was dressed in a floral button down, black pants, a Nike baseball cap, and shades.  But of course, she was still somewhat noticeable.  The Associated Press reported that Secret Service arrived 30 minutes before her and blended with the other customers.  The only person who recognized the First Lady was her cashier!

In case you're wondering if it was really her, the White House confirmed it this afternoon saying,

"It is not uncommon for the First Lady to slip out to run an errand, eat at a local restaurant or otherwise enjoy the city outside the White House gates," said Kristina Schake, communications director for the First Lady.

CBS News reports the pics were snapped by an Associated Press photographer who says he was tipped off that she would be there.

Jennifer Lopez might have loved herself enough to end her marriage, but that doesn't mean she wasn't devastated by her split from husband of seven years Marc Anthony. That's why pal Randy Jackson says Lopez's American Idol family will always be there for her.

"We've been doing auditions, and she's rising above," her fellow Idol judge tells People. "She's strong, she's a trouper, she's a great girl. She's amazing."

Jackson, 55, says that the 42-year-old "On the Floor" singer isn't letting her personal drama get in the way of her work. And if she does need any assistance, he's there for her. "Whatever help we need to give, we'll give her," Jackson says.

Lopez and Anthony, 42, announced their split on July 15. Insiders say the couple came to the decision after months of nonstop arguing, thinking that a divorce would be the best thing for their 3-year-old twins, Max and Emme.

Since the split -- and despite gossip-mag rumors of infidelity on Anthony's part -- Lopez and Anthony seem to be on amicable terms. They were photographed together in August in the Hamptons, where they put aside their differences for a getaway with their kids.

And Lopez said in an interview with Vanity Fair that Anthony will always have a place with her family. "We actually work great together, and he was always very supportive," she said. "He will always be in our lives. He will always hold a special place in my heart as the father of my children."

And Lopez hasn't let the split weight her down. She was photographed over the weekend partying hard in Las Vegas after performing at the iHeartRadio festival (Jackson also played). According to one source, one of J.Lo's backup dancers even gave her a lap dance -- and she was "laughing and loving it."

Sure sounds to us like she's "rising above."

Baseballer Matt Kemp Shows His Bod For FLAUNT Mag, Talks His Obsession With Fashion

Pro baseballer Matt Kemp flaunted his abs for FLAUNT magazine recently.  Rihanna's ex-boyfriend talked about what he loves in a woman as well.  Pics inside, plus what he reveals about his fashion and shoe obsession....

Oh really Matt?  The multimillion dollar MLBer flaunted his assets for the new issue of FLAUNT magazine:

And dished about his obsession of fashion and the type of women he's into:

If there is one weakness to Matt Kemp, it’s shopping. We’re not just talking your everyday, garden variety shopping either. Kemp is a power shopper. The way Kemp puts it, Veronica Lodge herself would have a hard time keeping up with him. Barneys? I suggest, knowingly. He nods. “Yeah, that’s one of my favorites.” What section do you beeline for? “Shoes!” he says. It is the singular moment during this interview when Matt Kemp’s eyes sparkle. “Shoes and clothes, man,” he continues. “I like to look nice when I go places. I think we all do for the most part. You want to walk around feeling good about yourself. In the past year-and-a-half, two years, I got into being around fashionable people. I started to enjoy the things that other people I was around enjoyed like clothes and shoes. It’s fun. I think it’s fun to go into a store and try to figure out what to put with some shoes or your outfit or whatever, and rock it.

“I’m like a chameleon, man,” Kemp continues. “I can switch it up. I can one day be wearing some Jordans or nice retro sportswear with some jeans, a shirt, and a hat, and make that look nice. And then I can wear a collared shirt with some RRL jeans.” He goes on to reference Lanvin and YSL.

Sometimes, I offer, do you go too far?

“Sometimes,” Kemp replies. “There’s times. You’ve got to set a little budget for every month or two for yourself. If you go over that budget, it means that you have do less next month. It’s all about saving money. But looking good at the same time.”

“What do I look for?” he laughs. “I like confident people. I like positive people. Somebody that can make me a better person. Somebody that makes me want to be a better person. Smart. Pretty, of course. Somebody that is close with their family and loves their family just as much as I love my family. Somebody that knows how to dress. It just boils down to being confident and being comfortable in your own skin and the person that you are.”

Somebody that you can go shopping with?

“Definitely,” he says. “Somebody that can help me [shop]. I love looking and seeing what kind of shoes women wear. I think that tells me if a person knows what they’re doing. To me, shoes are…” Kemp trails off. “If I like your shoes, and you’re pretty, that’s a good quality. As well as being confident.”

Do you want to shop with Matt Kemp?

With a Little Luck: A Novel

My good friend Caprice Crane's new book, With a Little Luck, is out today. Yay, Caprice!

It's gotten great reviews:

"Crane is one of the funniest writers of popular fiction around. The dialog (inner and outer) is laugh-out-loud, snort-inducing hilarious . . . Readers will want to cross their fingers and spit while throwing salt over their shoulders if it helps Berry reach her dreams. Highly recommended."

Library Journal

"Fans of Stacy Ballis and Cara Lockwood will appreciate Crane's effortlessly funny style, which is often attempted in popular fiction but is rarely this well executed...Lighthearted and charmingly honest."

—Booklist

"[A] satisfying romantic comedy...[with] real character growth."

—Kirkus Reviews

And even better blurbs:

"Romantic, poignant and funny—this book is a lucky find for lit fans. Caprice Crane is a nimble and gifted storyteller."

—Diablo Cody, Academy Award-winning screenwriter of Juno

"A hilarious romp that oozes charm and giddy fun. Caprice Crane is a true talent."

—Molly Jong-Fast, author of The Social Climber's Handbook

"Witty, fast-paced, and sheer fun. Caprice Crane is a master of dialogue. Half the time I was reading this book I was smiling, which made me look like a crazy person on the subway."

—Jancee Dunn, author of Don’t You Forget About Me and Why Is My Mother Getting a Tattoo?

"Absolutely charming and hilarious."

—Missy Peregrym, star of the movie Stick It and ABC's Rookie Blue

"With a Little Luck scores in humor, head, and heart. In other words, it’s a perfect trifecta."

—Karyn Bosnak, author of 20 Times a Lady (soon to be the major motion picture What's Your Number?)

(Omg, who is that last fantastic blurber?) (I meant every word of it.)

And most importantly, she has the cutest dog ever (who likes to video chat with Bev):

Anyway, check it out, buy it—it's fantastic!

Do Foo Fighters Know Robert Pattinson From Robert Plant?

During band's rehearsal break for Sunday's Movie Awards, we put Foos to the test.
By Ryan J. Downey, with reporting by Jim Cantiello

UNIVERSAL CITY, California — Hard rock, heavy metal, hardcore and punk have long gone hand-in-hand with evil wizards, magic, vampires and werewolves. And with a collective sub-cultural pedigree that includes stints in the Germs, No Use for a Name, Sunny Day Real Estate, Scream and some band called Nirvana, you'd think the Foo Fighters — set to perform at Sunday's Movie Awards — would know their "Potter" from their Zeppelin. Certainly they can recognize a "wand" reference and pinpoint its origin?

Right? Before we put MTV News' magically crafted trivia to the band, it seemed safe to assume the Foos would accurately distinguish between the words of Harry Potter, a "Twilight" character and Led Zeppelin. But was their underground nerd cred blown to shreds? Read on — and click the video! — to see how the Foo Fighters fared when we caught up with them on the Universal Studios lot, shortly after they finished rehearsing their Movie Awards performance.

Our own Jim Cantiello played dungeon master as Dave Grohl, Nate Mendel, Taylor Hawkins, Chris Shiflett and Pat Smear were given a series of semi-famous lines and asked whether they originated with "Harry Potter," the "Twilight Saga" or the lyrics of hard-rock pioneers Led Zeppelin.

Here's a sampling of a few of those one-liners:

» "The elder wand, the most powerful wand ever made."

» "Why don't you let me be yours ever truly? Can I make your garden grow?"

» "You're lying, Dolores! You mustn't tell lies!"

Can you guess whether the lines above came from the "Potter" flicks, "Twilight" or Robert Plant?

Watch as the Foos try their best to do exactly that. Then tune in to the MTV Movie Awards on Sunday to catch the Foo Fighters rock the stage with their new single, "Walk."

Will wizards, vampires or dream thieves steal the 2011 MTV Movie Awards? Find out June 5, when the 20th annual show airs live at 9 p.m. ET/PT. Tune in at 7:30 p.m. ET/PT that night for the "America's Best Dance Crew" finale and Movie Awards pre-show, loaded with live action from the red carpet, exclusive movie clips and a special edition of "After Hours."

Them Crooked Vultures make their debut with a post-Lollapalooza set.
By James Montgomery

Officially, Lollapalooza ended Sunday night in Chicago's Grant Park, with dueling sets from the Killers and Jane's Addiction. Unofficially, it ended very early Monday morning, across town at venerable rock club the Metro, with a surprise show by Them Crooked Vultures.

To the unfamiliar, the Vultures might seem like an odd choice to close out Lolla weekend ... until you realize that they're made up of Foo Fighters frontman/ former Nirvana drummer Dave Grohl, Queens of the Stone Age mastermind Josh Homme and Led Zeppelin legend John Paul Jones. And their gig at the Metro was their world premiere.

According to some reports, the Vultures actually turned down Lollapalooza founder Perry Farrell's request to replace the Beastie Boys as headliners at the festival, opting to debut in front of some 1,100 super-psyched fans at the Metro, rather than 75,000 in Grant Park (tickets for the gig were announced via Foo Fighter/ QOTSA fan clubs). Meaning that, in a lot of ways, this was the most sought-after ticket in town.

Taking the stage just after midnight, the Vultures — Grohl on drums (of course), Homme on guitar and vocals, Jones on bass and keys and frequent QOTSA contributor Alain Johannes on guitar — ripped through 12 songs in 80 minutes, all taken from their upcoming debut, which may or may not be called Never Deserved the Future, and may or may not be hitting stores on October 23 (early "promo" videos touting both those facts were revealed over the weekend to be hoaxes perpetrated by QOTSA fans).

The songs, with appropriately Homme-ian titles like "Scumbag Blues," "Mind Eraser (No Chaser)," "Caligulove" and "Interlude w/Ludes," sounded pretty much how you'd expect, given the band's pedigree. They rocked, hard — Chicago Tribune critic Greg Kot described them as "fresh, invigorating and just plain nasty" — delving off into psychedelic, reverb-filled excursions and exploring proggy territory, "both of the old-school Yes variety, and the more modern Tool flavor," according to the Chicago Sun-Times' Jim DeRogatis.

It's not known if Monday's Metro performance was a one-off event for the Vultures — there have been whispers of a full-blown tour, but a spokesperson for Homme had not responded to MTV News' request for comment at press time. Nor was it clear whether or not they'll have an album out in October.

Early Monday, a Crooked Vultures Twitter account, which had previously posted links to the band's official-looking Web site and the Metro's online ticketing site — posted a link to what appears to be the group's first bit of official merchandise: a Deserve the Future T-shirt. Cost: $30.

'Twilight' Fan Christina Perri Pens 'A Love Song To Edward And Bella'

Admitted 'Twi-Hard' is 'unbelievably honored' that 'A Thousand Years' made the 'Breaking Dawn - Part 1' soundtrack.
By James Montgomery

For any artist, getting a song on a "Twilight" soundtrack is a pretty big deal. But for Christina Perri, whose "A Thousand Years" made the cut for the upcoming "Breaking Dawn - Part 1" album, well, "pretty big deal" is an understatement.

Perri is — to put it mildly — rather obsessed with the series, as she told MTV News on Tuesday (September 27).

"Yes, I am 1,000 percent a 'Twilight' fan. I can't even deny that I am actually, in fact, a Twi-Hard and have a 'Twilight' tattoo," she laughed, also revealing that she's Team Edward. "I got a tattoo on my wrist that says 'bitten,' and it's written in the font of all the book titles. So, yes, I am of one the big, geeky fans."

For Perri, who already found success with her hit "Jar of Hearts," landing "Breaking Dawn" was a career-defining moment, not to mention a dream come true. Especially since, until the final track list was revealed Monday, she had no idea if her song made the cut.

"I'll never forget going to the screening of the movie. But, for me, having this opportunity is also such a wild card, because it's Hollywood, and you never really know. ... I wasn't even sure I was going to be on it until yesterday, when I saw it in print," she laughed. "So I tried not to get hyped out, because it's one of my favorite movies, one of my favorite books, one of my favorite soundtracks, and that could potentially freak out the little songwriter in me.

"So I tried to put that aside and take it one step at a time, went to see the movie and cried like a baby, because it's so good, and I felt so lucky to be there," she continued. "And then went home and wrote a love song to Edward and Bella ... and to have it be chosen, I'm unbelievably honored."

She wrote that love song based less on the screening she attended ("It wasn't finished," Perri said. "But I still cried. Seriously, that's how good it is") and more on the emotions she felt reading Stephenie Meyer's series ... in particular, the star-crossed love affair between Edward and Bella.

"When we went to watch the screening, they told us to see where there was temporary music added and just jump into those scenes a little harder," she explained. "But I'm fortunately a fan of the movie and the characters, and I feel like, by reading these books, I can step into that feeling that Edward and Bella have for each other. So [songwriter] David Hodges and I sat down, and it just came out in one afternoon. I feel like it was all meant to happen; I feel like it was all waiting inside me, waiting to come out."

While she doesn't know where "A Thousand Years" will be used in "Breaking Dawn," Perri said it's not all that important to her. She's just counting down the days until the film's premiere, when, finally, she'll get to hear her song on the big screen. And after that, all bets are off.

"For me, personally, this is one of my dreams coming true. And the fact that it's on the soundtrack, I'm seeing it, but I'm not sure I'm quite believing it," she said. "I have a feeling when I'm sitting in the theater with the cast, and the movie comes on and my song happens, that I'm probably at that moment either going to combust with excitement or finally believe it and probably cry a little."

Check out everything we've got on "The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn - Part 1."
