Kim Kardashian Hits 10 Million Twitter Followers

Kim Kardashian Hits 10 Million Twitter Followers

Kim Kardashian continues to take over the world, one tweet at a time! On Monday, Sept. 26, the reality star became just the fifth person to reach 10 million Twitter followers. It's a milestone that was first hit by Lady Gaga back in May, and she was soon followed by Justin Bieber, President Barack Obama and Katy Perry. It's a club that the new Mrs. Humphries is very excited to join.

"OOOMMMGGG I just realized that I hit 10 MILLION FOLLOWERS!" she tweeted on Monday morning. "Words can't even begin to express the love I feel for all of u!!!"

Words may not be able to express the love Kim feels from her fans -- but perhaps some free clothes can? In appreciation of her 10 million online pals, Kardashian announced that she'll be giving several dozen prizes to "random loyal Twitter followers." The gift tally so far is 10 $1,000 gift certificates to Dash, 10 free memberships to ShoeDazzle.com, 10 pairs of Sketchers ShapeUps, 10 pieces of Belle Noel jewelry, 10 items of Kardashian Kollection for Sears clothing and 10 bottles of her "Love" fragrance. Of course, these are all sponsored products that Kim can get for free -- but it's nice to see her spread the wealth around!

Kardashian, 30, has earned her Twitter rank with a combination of trendsetting savvy, attention-grabbing media ventures (like, say, her wedding) and near-constant tweeting. So who's next in the race to 10 million followers? Believe it or not, it's Britney Spears, who quickly climbed the ranks when she began to actively use Twitter in May. Her @britneyspears account now has more than 9.7 million followers. Behind her by a full 1 million followers is Shakira, who tweets half in English, half in Spanish.

And what about Ashton Kutcher, the first person ever to reach 1 million followers? Though he started 2011 as the No. 1 ranked Twitter user, he's now down to No. 9, trailing behind Taylor Swift with 7.7 million followers. We're surprised that he didn't get more of a boost from his much-discussed Two and a Half Men debut. But mark our words: If he and Demi Moore decide to have a baby, he'll be back in the top 5 in no time!

Another celebrity with the potential to join the lofty ranks of the social network site's most-followed: Beyonce, who has 1.7 million followers, despite never having used Twitter. When the pop star announced her pregnancy at the VMAs this August, she broke Twitter records as fans hurried to post the news. If she actually decides to start tweeting, Gaga and Biebs may need to step up their game!
